Meal Delivery Ending Today (3/23/2020)

Due to the increasing spread of the coronavirus, Stewart County Schools will be distributing a weeks’ worth of meals to the students today. Parents please join the student at the bus to assist them in carrying the meals. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please note that the learning packets that were sent home should cover several weeks of work. The students will be assessed on the material when they return to school. Continue to have student work online and to contact their teachers when needed. This is a difficult time for us all, please be safe.

State suspends testing due to Covid 19 (Click for information)

March 13, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is clear that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading at a rapid rate. This is a true indication that at some point our school district and/or community will be impacted. Since the Coronavirus was first made known in the U.S., the school district has been working diligently with state and local authorities and has a plan in place to help limit exposure to our faculty, staff, and students.

I had a conference call with Governor Brian Kemp, State School Superintendent Richard Woods, Georgia Department of Education employees, and other superintendents throughout the state of Georgia. In an effort to slow down the spread of the virus, the Governor has given districts the flexibility to decide as local governing bodies to close schools for fourteen days.

On March 12, 2020, the Board made a decision to close school effective March 18, 2020. During the school closure, instruction for the students will continue. Teachers will be sending home packets of assignments for the students to complete. All teachers will be working from home and will be accessible to students from the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. All other staff members to include paraprofessionals will continue to report to work. Teachers will communicate means in which students can contact them if students have questions or need help with their assignments.

The students will receive two meals daily during the eight days that we are out of school. The meals will be delivered by bus to each student’s bus stop at a designated time. On Tuesday, students will receive a schedule of meal deliveries. The students will report back to school on April 6, 2020, unless otherwise notified.

Sincerely

Dr. Valerie Roberts
